"Ahh ... huff ... finally outside ..."
After nobody knows how many hours walking on the sand after the encounter with the devimon, the trio finally walked the last steps on the desert and the endless sea of sand was being replaced first by dry ground and later by some small patches of soil with vegetation other than cactus. They were still nowhere near a place where to rest properly, but at least now they no longer were trapped in a place where they were cooked alive.
"Soren, thanks for guiding us out of the desert, but now we need to reach one city that we were told exist somewhere in the island"
"We should've asked lilamon and stingmon for a map .."
They were out of the desert, but they still had not a single idea about how to reach the city mentioned by their flower fairy and insect acquaintances, any wrong step and they could end up into yet another random location or even worse, end up into a place as hostile as the desert if not more. Soren was acknowledge about the desert, but they had no idea if he knew about the world outside that fiery land.

- Good luck with finding the way to the city then... I wasn't in these parts for so long since my exile... A cannot even remember the way back home... Not that anybody would be happy to see me there... - the renamon only replied, looking somewhere away... This place ... he shouldn't be here, he was banished for a horrible crime, and he had no right to be here. But he had no choice - either to leave his exile, or die at the hands of Shaitan. He chose to throw his lot and hope to live for a little bit longer.
The renamon was quiet and not very talkative during all his way from the desert, not wishing to share any of his inner turmoil with the rest of the group. Yes, he was with them, for now... But for how long? And wouldn't his presence threaten them as well? Of course it would, the guards, should he be discovered, would consider them to be helping him out, and punishment for helping an exile is getting exiled. The way Shaitan was... He would not allow to do that. No, he'd be with them until they reach the city, and after that will find some excuse to part ways. He could not remain, could he? A loner...
- I'd find another guide, were I you. Outside the desert I am perfectly useless. Or we could always look for some road, surely roads lead to some places important, right? Ooooh... - Soren suddenly stopped in the middle of proposition, as they were passing by a bunch of trees on their way to ... anywhere really, as long as it wasn't the desert. What attracted his attention so much was that on top of one tree there was... an apple. And he did not eat those in ages... Forgetting about anything, he went off the road, foming a spear in his hands, and started poking and prodding the apple with it to get it down...

"*sigh*, now we are lost again, at least it can't be worse than being lost in the desert"
She looked around searching for a potential new guide, but nobody appeared and what's more, he separated from the group, hypnotized by the presence of a tree with apples, not that he could be blamed for that, no fruit can grow in the deserts and most likely he hadn't eat an apple since years ago.
"Hey Irmgard, go and get us some apples too, you can fly so it should be easy for you"
"Ok, until we find the way towards the city we should get as many supplies as possible."
He flew above Soren and picked the apple he was poking, tossing it at him, then continued floating around the top of the trees, recovering a few more apples, enough for the journey he hoped, and landed next to Manabi
"With this we should have enough to satisfy our hunger for today and save up the rest of our food for another day"

- Thanks... - the renamon only nodded shortly, after the flying digimon got him the apple he wanted to get so much. After all this time ... he almost forgot how it tasted. It was like rediscovering the world all over again ... the world he still had little right to belong in. These thoughts were overshadowed by one thing though, and that thing was ... APPLE! Om nom nom.
It was good that the wizardmon got many apples from that tree, because Soren helped himself to a couple more of them, a sudden hunger awakening - as if he was to compensate for all this time eating dried straw bread and other hardly edible things in the desert, in ONE day. Fortunately for him though, there were a lot to go around. But eventually he stopped - realized it looked silly for a renamon such as him to be so excited over a few lousy apples. - Excuse me... - he shrugged with an apology.
- But indeed, we should find somebody to show the way. Maybe we'll run into some locals who would be kind enough to say where should we go...

Another day, another twenty four hours of simply going through the paces. The Strabimon had lost track of the days since he had left Shogun City in a self-imposed exile. Had to be several months by now though. He didn't dare go back though. Buraimon was dead because of his own stupidity. He didn't deserve the friendship of the townsfolk, and he certainly didn't deserve to even be in the presence of Buraimon, which ever digimon he hatched into.
Currently, Sable was resting in the upper branches of a particularly tall tree. A dull brown cloak draped over his figure, masking much of his appearance, save for his clawed hands that poked through the end of each sleeve. His eyes closed, he listened to his surroundings. For a while, he seemed to be alone, though it wasn't long until he heard voices coming from below. He only tilted his head to look down to see three figures walking through the trees, and looking pretty worse for wear.
He recognized one of them as a Wizardmon, though he wasn't certain on the other two. His eyes followed the group's progress, listening to their conversation. His interest wasn't really peaked though, until they mentioned 'city'. The only city on this island was Shogun City. He listened more closely to the group as he watched them fetch some apples off of a tree before gorging on them. They had apparently come from the desert. They are either really brave or really stupid. He thought as he contemplated the group.
The Strabimon finally decided to jump down from his perch, leaping from branch to branch before settling on a lower one above the trio of wanderers. "Pardon me, but did you say you were going to the city? Shogun City?" He inquired, sliding the hood off his head to reveal his face.

"Did you like it?"
The wizardmon inquired requesting an answer from his human companion, those apples while still as juicy as their forest counterpart, were growing from trees that lived next to the unforgiving desert and the dry winds and above average temperatures could've worsened their taste.
"They are *om nom nom* delicious!"
Indeed, after three days eating only dry food courtesy of their guide, the soft delicacy, meaty texture and juiciness of the apples made them feel like fine cuisine prepared by only the best of the chefs in the world. Needless to say, Manabi greatly enjoyed them and so did Irmgard, who also om nom nommed some of them. The noise of their chomps was only interrupted by the arrival of yet another canine digimon, this time a wolf-type digimon who could be recognized as a strabimon who just like his fox counterpart, loved to wear face concealing hoods.
"Oh yes, we want to know how to reach the nearest city, do you know the route? We are a bit lost right now"
The strabimon looked like he knew about that place and if they were lucky, he could serve as a guide.

An intruder... This was a most ... unexpected appearance, or at least it was so to mummified fox, who turned around to face this ... this stranger, who just appeared from the trees, while a moment ago there was completely nothing that could have told of this person's presence within this place. And if there was anything Soren hated, it was people catching him by surprise. It meant he had left his guard down and allowed himself to be surprised...
The ... digimon that appeared so suddenly certainly was not looking very trustworthy either. It was of a darker type, and sporting a concealing hood just like the renamon did. Come to think of it, Soren did not look very trustworthy either, guess those were two of a pair. Especially considering the fox still had that spear of his in his hands, which made him look a bit more threatening than he really where.
- Not so fast, flyboy. - he said to the wizardmon, who were just way too trusting to people he did not know, jumping at about every opportunity like that. Though it must be admitted that Soren had more reasons to be wary of strangers than these two. After all, he was an escaped convict around here. For all he knew this could be a copper in disguise, whose job is to stay on the way out of the desert and be on a lookout for runaways. Such as him...
- And just who might you be, kind sir? I never knew many people living on the borders... - his tone was officially cold and his words peerlessly polite, so that the person in question would not be able to accuse him of being disrespectful in any way, but the fox was wary of the stranger, for now. Tis why the spear in his hands did not disappear, and instead lied on his shoulder, just in case it might become needed. Soren observed the stranger... for now.
